Featuring a mix of classic covers by artists such as Ann Peebles, Otis Redding and BB King and a selection of Oscar's original songs, these shows will be the perfect way to spend a wintery Sunday evening. Oscar LaDell is a singer, songwriter and guitarist who brings a timeless vulnerability to his original blend of Blues, Soul & Roots. Hailing originally from Denver Colorado, LaDell grew up in Purakaunui in the South of Aotearoa. Drawing from the moody and poignant scenes of his home, LaDell writes, plays and sings with incisiveness and depth. With his band The Earth Tones, Oscar’s live shows are incendiary sermons of soul, blending swaying grooves with dynamic storms of guitar and organ, all tied together by Oscar’s magnetic voice. Oscar LaDell is a singer, songwriter and guitarist who brings a timeless vulnerability to his music. Hailing originally from Denver Colorado, LaDell grew up in Purakaunui in the South of Aotearoa. Drawing from the moody and poignant scenes of his home, LaDell writes, plays and sings with depth. Supporting Oscar at Open Studio will be French alt-pop/alternative artists Ella Lewis and Kilian Islan. Ella Lewis combines incisive, honest lyricism with a gorgeous voice and an inventive use of harmony to entrance the listener. Kilian Islan draws from diverse influences such as Radiohead and Frank Ocean to create evocative, expansive soundscapes with messages brought home by his emotive vocals.
